Meet Brett Anderson

The goal of any bio is to get to know another person, professionally or personally; however, I find most bios in the financial industry to be slightly dry. Therefore, the goal of my bio is to let you know a little more about myself than just financial facts, including my background, as well as hitting a few personal aspects of my life. So here goes!

I am a proud graduate of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. I continue to enjoy Augsburg College by being an active Alumnus where I participate in various activities and events (check out my Community Page to see what events I plan to be at next). I obtained my Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Therefore, as you can imagine, I have become an excellent test taker. I have also taken a host of state and federal exams which allow me to do what I do. I have found, however, the most influential part of my education has come from the hard knocks of life and owning my own business. I have accumulated an immense amount of knowledge from my clients over the years, including how to create a successful wealth management strategy. I enjoy working with my clients to help create a truly successful financial plan that allows them to have financial choices rather than just one option.

Over the years I have taken part as a volunteer with the Carlson School of Management as a part of their Mentor/Mentee program to help others achieve their professional goals. I’ve had some great teachers along the way, in and out of the classroom, which has helped make me the professional I am today. I am a firm believer that age is not necessarily a factor to be a mentor. I think that learning is an experience that can take place anytime, anywhere. I believe life is all about giving back, therefore I try to help whenever possible.

Now to get personal! I have two kids, Nicholas and Mackenzie. Nick is a Senior at North Dakota State University and is studying architecture. Mackenzie is currently a 8^th grader enrolled in Woodbury Middle School. She enjoys outdoor activities as well as going to summer camps. I am married to a very understanding woman, Annette. We have been married for over 20 years. Annette allows me to follow my passion and dream every day and I am forever thankful for finding such a wonderful person. Our family resides in Woodbury, Minnesota, where the winter months are cold and it snows frequently, however we do enjoy the change of seasons. Many of my clients have winter homes to escape the snowy months and I can see exactly why they find it so appealing. (I’m open for ideas on locations.) I am involved in a number of public and private organizations which keep me busy and active with several communities see community involvement to find out what I have been up to. Maybe I am involved with your community!

St. Croix Advisors has given me the opportunity to enjoy spending more time with my family. I have had the chance to spend more time with my kids, including picking up/dropping off Mackenzie from school and events as well bringing Nick to and from college for breaks. As a family, we’ve visited more than 40 Minnesota State Parks with about 15 or so to go; our goal is to visit all of them in the next couple of years. In the summer, I like spending time working around the house, and especially in my yard. I enjoy having a green golf course—a weed-free lawn—my neighbors frequently give me hard time. Bluefin Bay is by far one the greatest getaway places our family has discovered. We frequently spend long weekends there to escape. There are real wood burning fireplaces in every room—in fall and winter, I have found nothing better. I highly recommend making a trip to Bluefin Bay; you won’t regret it!
